Wye Valley Retreat – A blissful day of yoga 20 May 2023 10.30-4.30pm
I love planning this yoga day retreat at this time of year. We’re just at the end of February and the difference in light and temperature is definitely apparent. We’re moving into spring, my favourite season, when everything starts to tentatively raise its head from the annual winter slumber and the seeds that were artfully sewn can now begin to bloom and flourish. In winter I reflect on my yoga plans and ideas for the year ahead and then when spring arrives the energy and passion to implement them starts to resurrect within me. Winter just isn’t the right time. It is clear that we are no different from anything else in nature and yoga is something that can help us follow these intrinsic yet buried fundamental rhythms.
May has been identified as the mindfulness month, however, traditionally it is the month of merriment and motivation, having been named after the Greek Goddess, Maia, who nurtured the plants and flowers, ensuring they danced their way to full bloom before the arrival of summer. For me, this month brings feelings of hope and aspiration, along with visions of bluebell woods and long, warm, contemplative evenings. It’s not surprising it’s the month I yearn for the most in the year!
