The hummus crisis

You may have noticed the disappearance of hummus (houmous) from certain supermarket shelves over the last week prompting a so-called hummus crisis. Apparently this is due to reports from many of its lovers of a metalic taste in certain brands.  It was withdrawn from sale due to the fault in production. Hummus is so easy to make and the variations are endless.  Below is the basic recipe and all you need is a hand-held blender.  All you need is a can of chickpeas, 2 tbsp of lemon juice, two garlic cloves, 1 tsp of ground cumin, salt, 100ml of tahini,4 tbsp of water, 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil and 1 tsp paprika, plus anything else you’ve got hanging around.
