Let’s honour the darkness and celebrate our return to light.
Tuesday 20 December 6.30-8 pm The Share Centre on Stow Hill £10
This candle-lit, festive-scented yoga workshop will give you an opportunity amidst the chaos to surrender into rest and reflection through yielding yin and restorative postures which will both open up and release the body preparing it to drop into a blissful winter solstice guided mediation.
There will be a little festive social afterwards with mince pies, festive energy balls and mulled wine.
In the Northern Hemisphere we find ourselves at the darkest time of the year about to embark on the return to lighter and longer days, an annual yearning for most of us. This is also the busiest time of year so it is not surprising that the Winter Solstice is often overlooked. Not only do we find ourselves dancing between dark and light but also between stillness and commotion. In Latin, Solstice means to “stand still” and herein lies the paradox of this magical annual phenomenon, a time where we should be quiet and reflective but, in reality, find ourselves frantically running around trying to prepare for that special day we all know and love.
