Reconnect With Your Yoga Practice In 2020

Happy New Year yogis and yoginis

As we approach the end of the festive season, that time of year which is filled with the guilt-free, self-indulgence of the Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations, our bodies and minds soon start to let us know that they could use some fine tuning. We begin to feel sluggish and bloated, slightly depressed and anxious. We may lose our zest for life, knowing that the monotonous routine of daily life is about to resume. However, with that comes the buzz of that annual New Year resolve; a time of reflection and introspection, a time to set intentions, a time of new beginnings and at time to let go.

Our bodies are designed to engage in detoxification every single day, however from time to time we all need a gentle nudge in the right direction. This is why we love to start each New Year with a clean slate. Detoxes, cleanses, you name it—it is the perfect time to become your healthiest, most authentic self.

Enter Yoga
To start detoxing, you don’t need to commit to weeks of sipping on just green juice. Simply roll out your trusted mat and move your body which will stimulate your circulatory, digestive, and lymphatic systems, helping you rid your body of waste and toxins!

In addition to the physical benefits, yoga can also provide mental clarity. The calming and centering aspects of yoga are essential for an all-over detox for your mind and body, helping release physical, mental, and emotional toxicity.

Journey through the Chakras workshop series- The Share Centre
For those of you who want to delve a bit deeper into the practice of yoga, I’m going to deliver a series of 5 workshops over the year on the Chakras. According to yoga tradition, the subtle body is a part of you that you can’t see or touch—it’s where your energy flows, which is why it’s also referred to as the energy body. There are seven key points in the subtle body that are thought to be vortexes of energy, known as Chakras. Certain poses help to open up and balances the chakras. To learn more have a look a this link https://yogainternational.com/article/view/a-beginners-guide-to-chakras. First workshop focuses on the root chakra.
