The Divine Feminine
A yoga day of movement, music, reflection and rest

The theme of this day retreat is about connecting to the divine feminine. Feminine energy resides everywhere and yoga is a great way to connect with it. Embracing the divine feminine that dwells within us helps us tap into our sensitivities, creativity, and patience, allowing us to be guided by our deep intuition. Obviously, it’s very important to remember that we all possess both masculine and feminine energies – one will be more dominant than the other whether you’re male or female.

So how do we define feminine energy?
Feminine energy is represented by Shakti, the Hindu goddess who represents power, energy and creativity in the universe. She is aligned with the moon and of course the moon represents everything feminine too – yin qualities – think cool, dark, passive, mysterious. The divine feminine embodies a softer approach, one that nurtures and allows our creativity to flourish. This energy encourages us to go with the flow rather than forcing our way through obstacles.
The water element plays a significant role in connecting us to shakti energy. Water is inherently formless, fluid, and sensual— qualities that resonate deeply with feminine energy. It’s interesting how the tides of the ocean are influenced by the moon, the very symbol of feminine energy. This connection highlights the intricate relationships between nature, energy, and our own experiences.
Additionally, the water element is linked to the Sacral Chakra, which is fundamental to creativity, sexuality, movement and flow. The sacral chakra is the second chakra and located in the pelvic area- think swinging your hips! This is my favourite chakra too. Engaging with our creative side is an excellent way to awaken feminine energy. Allow your ideas to unfold and manifest in whatever form inspires you. Whether you prefer to paint, write, draw, photograph, or create in any other medium, let your creativity flow freely. Don’t stifle this precious gift; instead, celebrate it. Yoga really helps your creativity bubble up the surface of this is something you struggle with.
Movement is vital expression of feminine energy. Dancing is a fantastic way to tap into this energy and shake off any stagnant feelings. Dance has always been part of my life and you can turn your yoga practice into your own personal dance. There are countless styles of yoga, but remember, you have the power to move in ways that feel good for you, even if they don’t conform to traditional norms. In fact, that’s at the heart of my own teaching. Move in a way that animates you. So, find your favourite music, turn it up, and let your body guide you. It’s guaranteed to uplift your spirit and enhance your sense of well-being.

I have stumbled upon the most fabulous venue with beautiful views and surrounding countryside walks for us to enjoy and it is only a 20 minute drive from Newport. My rubbish photos don’t do it justice!!
