Prenatal yoga not only allows you to flourish throughout your pregnancy, it helps you draw on the innate wisdom and resources within your body and mind to prepare you for labour and birth. My classes include yoga postures adapted for all stages of pregnancy, breathing techniques, guided meditations and birthing positions that allow you to explore your intuitive body to help guide your baby into this world. Classes are fun and safe and provide you with all the tools you need for this precious time; strength, stamina and flexibility, including looking at common ailments experienced during pregnancy. You will learn breathing techniques and meditations to reduce anxiety and facilitate release during labour and birth. All these can be practised at home to share with your partner.
The class is suitable for all stages of pregnancy from 14 weeks onwards until birth (40+ Weeks). It is possible to join at any stage after 14 weeks I just ask that you advise me of any injuries or ailments associated with pregnancy or otherwise ahead of class and speak to your doctor or midwife before taking part in any physical activity. This is especially important if you are currently being treated or if you are under doctor or midwife supervision at the time of coming to class (breech baby, SPD, low lying placenta, varicose veins etc.) This way I can ensure the class is safe and beneficial for everyone.
Please wear loose comfortable clothing that you can move in. If you could also bring a yoga mat that would be great, although I do have mats but having your own is much better (a small cushion and light weight blanket are also useful for seated poses and relaxation too.)
